Do you really want that French bulldog enough to spend $3,500 or will a $450 Boston terrier suffice? The prices for purebred dogs and cats depend on quality of the pet (you may find a pet-quality dog from a show litter for a lesser fee), popularity of the breed (the law of supply and demand comes into play here; if Persian cats are the “in” breed, expect to pay more), and the size of the litter (owners may be willing to part with the ninth pup in a litter for a little less).
