Taking care of a pet is an unending job. It’s almost like caring for a human baby, with one major exception. Pets are children who never grow up. Unlike our human children, pets never learn to take care of themselves. Pets don’t fill their own water bowls when they are thirsty; they never drive themselves to the supermarket for food when they’re hungry; and they certainly don’t become financially independent and move out on their own.

Pets always need us to care for them. So before pet shopping for that new family addition, think about what pets need and who’ll be responsible for fulfilling those needs.
