Harnesses rather than collars add an extra measure of safety for traveling animals. A pet in a strange situation can become easily frightened and can pull out of a traditional buckled collar. Sliding leashes are a little more escape proof, but they put pressure on the dog’s trachea as he pulls away.

Harnesses do not choke the pet and do not slip off if they fit and are fastened correctly.
Brachycephalic (short-nosed) dogs and all types of cats do particularly well with harnesses. When taking your pet out of your yard, use common sense to protect him.
