Time out can be any area of the house that is private and isn’t used for pet eating or sleeping. When in time out, your pet does not receive any attention from you.
Withholding attention is negative reinforcement of inappropriate acts. Time-out sessions should be limited to just a minute or two.

In fact, simply placing your pet in time out, instructing him to sit, and turning your back on him may be all that is necessary. And remember to really praise your puppy whenever he eliminates outside so he understands what positive reinforcement and loving attention is.
