Regardless of the type of pet you have, a toilet plan is a must. If you have a house-trained adult dog and a fenced yard, this may be as simple as letting Fido outside for a few minutes after meals and before bedtime. If you walk your dog, latrine duty needs to be more carefully scheduled. Teaching your dog to go to a designated spot will avoid soiling areas where children play and make picking up after him easier. Picking up feces is mandatory in some communities and just plain polite when dogs are walked in public areas.
